The Midvale Performing Arts Center

The Midvale Performing Arts Center is a neat old building in Midvale. I have been wanting to get a chance to see the inside for a little while now so I have been following their website to see if a show caught my eye. I eventually noticed they are doing 9 to 5 The Musical and I figured that would be something we would want to see.

Quick Details:

Length: NA
Trail Type: Event
Difficulty: DR2. It is an old building, but I did see an elevator.
Elevation Gain: 1 floor
Restroom: Yes
Dogs? No.
Other Info: Fee Area depending on what show you are seeing.
The parking lot is very small. They have a guide of where to park on their website (outside link).

To Get Here:

Take i15 to 7200 south in Midvale heading west. Turn left on 700 West. Turn left on Center Street. Go 1 block and turn right on Main St. Immediately to the left is the parking lot. If it is full find alternate parking.

695 W Center St, Midvale, UT 84047

The Adventure:

Built in the 1930’s the building served as Midvale City Hall and police station. It sat vacant for years until it was remodeled for the Midvale Performing Arts and Community Center on  2004. It is a super neat old building!

Inside. The theater, oddly enough, is on the 2nd floor. It has 110 permanent seats with room for additional seating in the raised floor in the back.

9 to 5 The Musical. It was a hoot! I have not seen the movie yet, so this was all new to me. I quite enjoyed it. The cast, while definitely not Broadway, was pretty good. The 4 leads were great, and the guy playing the evil boss, Mr. Hart really, really leaned into the evil boss trope. He was great.

During intermission we went down to the first floor for the restrooms. This is about all you can explore down here. The rest of it is offices, dressing rooms, and storage. It’s kind of spooky though.

The stage again. It is a little unique having that lower stage section, which they did use for this play.

View across the auditorium.

I was hoping to get more photos of the inside, but it was a little busy.

Neat old bell outside for the Utah Centennial.

“Midvale honors Utah Centennial 1896-1996 August 5th, 1996.”

Well, that was fun! I am glad we got to explore it a little bit more. If I find another show that grabs my fancy I would definitely come come back. 9 out of 10 squirrels.

As for difficulty, it is an old building, most people will use the stairs, but there is an elevator.

Dogs are not allowed.
