Hidden Falls

Hidden Falls is a pretty waterfall located in Big Cottonwood Canyon. It is a super, super short trail so there isn’t a whole lot to it, but it is nice. We didn’t have a lot of free time today before our family Mothers Day event so I wanted something short. Plus, it's been a little while since we have been here.

Quick Details:

Length: .14 Miles out and back.
Trail Type: Out and back.
Difficulty: DR3.
Elevation Gain: 75 feet.
Restroom: There is one in the nearby Mill B South parking lot, but it is closed in winter.
Dogs? No. Big Cottonwood Canyon is watershed.
Other Info:

To Get Here:

Drive 4.4 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon to the big S curve. There are 2 parking lots here the Mill B South which is lower on the first curve, and Mill B North which is in the middle of the S. Park in (or near) the North one.

Haha, good one UDOT (Passenger Seat Photography (PSP)).

Into the canyon (PSP).

The Trail:

Trailhead sign.

Trail marker. The Mill B North Trail is also pretty neat. I’ve been meaning to revisit that one again.

Mill B North.

Again.

First glimpse of the falls.

Old mine with water coming out. We’ll come back to that in a minute.

Wow! It is really gushing! I don’t think I have ever seen it this high.

Slightly longer exposure.

With some of the creek below.

More creek.

Little bit of a better view.

Longer exposure.

Closer.

The deep narrow canyon it flows through.

Back to the mine.

The inside.

Tree growing out of the cliffs.

With a lot of it’s roots exposed. Trees never cease to amaze me.

The creek.

Again.

Again. Then the creek goes under the S curve, pops out again below it for a second, goes under the road again, and finally joins Big Cottonwood Creek.

Panoramic of the lower curve of the S Curve.

This is a great short trail to a lovely little waterfall. The trail was a little flooded today, but that downside was corrected with seeing the falls really flowing! It was not terribly busy today either. 9 out of 10 squirrels.

As for difficulty, it is super short, and not much of a climb. DR3.

Dogs are not allowed as Big Cottonwood Canyon is watershed.
