Evergreen Park is a small park in Salt Lake City. It features your standard park amenities, playground, open grassy area, pavilion, etc, and Mill Creek flows by the outskirts of it. Unfortunately you can’t really see the creek, so I was not a huge fan of this park. But, from what I can tell, it is the first place to access Mill Creek below Mill Creek Canyon, so that is what brought us out to it.
Quick Details:
Length: We did about 2/10ths of a mile along the south end of the park.
Trail Type: Out and back.
Difficulty: Meh Its paved and pretty flat. DR2.
Elevation Gain: NA
Restroom: Yes, however I am not sure if it is open in winter.
Dogs? Yes, leashed.
Other Info:
To Get Here:
Take i80 eastbound to exit 127, 2300 East. At the traffic circle, take the 2nd exit for 2300 East. Follow that south for 1.1 miles. turn right on 3435 South. Go about 2/10ths of a mile and the park will be on the left.
Lovely mountain views on the way from our previous adventure (Passenger Seat Photography (PSP).
The Trail:
The restrooms.
Millcreek Community Center.
The creek has ben channeled through here and is a little hard to see, but you can hear it.
Little glimpse of it as we head east.
The little path heading east.
The path appears to be veering away from the creek so we decided to turn back.
Big tree.
The creek to the left, and a culvert in the middle.
The playground is currently vacant so I thought I’d get a shot of it. It is particularly whimsical.
Lots of drop cascades in the creek.
We both liked this neat Cinderella carriage. While trying to find some more information about this park I learned that this is kind of historical. It was originally installed in 1960, and was refurbished by Salt Lake County in 2012, along with the rest of the park. Fun. Apparently it is popular around Halloween.
Neat patch of trees growing together.
Ivy covered trees.
Well, I did not care for this park. Yeah, you could kind of see Mill Creek, but not really. Plus, when they put the creek in a cement channel it’s not really scenic. The park was pretty deserted today though so that was nice. Meh. 2 squirrels. Only retaining an extra for the whimsical playground.
As for difficulty, There is a fully paved option, we departed the pavement for a while, but you don’t have to. DR2.
Dogs are allowed, leashed. Please clean up after your furry friends.
